About

Scott MacQuarrie

Scott

I’ve been professional photographer for seven years. Previously, I was deeply involved with IT and IT consulting, traveling all over the world and  working under a wide variety of conditions. As a result, between the IT work and the photography, I have worked on every continent except Antarctica. Thus, I am pretty comfortable working practically anywhere. Besides English, I speak a passable Japanese and am close to fluent in Spanish from working in Asia and Latin America.

My journalism background  started with editorial writing for magazine and local news outlets. One of my American clients asked me to cover the photography for an event as part of the article and I discovered I enjoyed photography more than writing. Things went from there and I shifted from journalism to photojournalism. I still try to explain, educate, and inform, but I tell stories now with my photography instead of just words.

I am involved with editorial, travel, commercial, and photojournalism assignments. I also do the occasional wedding and portrait work.

I have been a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) for close to nine years. I have been accepted as a general member of the ASMP and I have been awarded a CPP by the PPA. I’ve also had some of my work win national awards in Canada through the PPOC.
